Sustainable Mediterranean Garden

Inspired by the client’s desire for an authentic and modern escape, this garden design provides a year-round retreat attuned to the Mediterranean seasons. The landscape architecture balances a strong evergreen structure of olives, cypress, and clipped teucrium with soft, shifting textures. Spring brings vibrant color to the dry garden, while in autumn ornamental grasses create a warm, painterly effect, ensuring the space feels alive in every season.

To ground the home in its Mallorcan landscape, the garden design gradually transitions from formal areas near the house to sweeping, open meadows. These plantings of drought-tolerant perovskia and stipa soften the property’s edges, blurring the line into the surrounding almond groves. A lower meadow opens to mountain views, while another invites immersion with winding paths for slow, sensorial walks among swaying grasses.

The design extends the home’s living space onto expansive terraces, where dozens of handmade terracotta pots add warmth and an authentic Mediterranean feeling. Close to the kitchen, a herb garden was designed as a natural, free-flowing space where culinary plants like sage, rosemary and thyme mingle with fruit trees and ornamental shrubs. Centered around an ancient olive, it creates a feeling of abundance.
